CIWM Presidential Team
The Presidential Team members serve as CIWM’s key ambassadors, providing high-level advocacy and leadership. Drawing on their extensive industry expertise, they champion CIWM’s mission and influence environmental policy to advance the circular economy and support the sector's growth.
David Greenfield FCIWM
President David is MD and founder of SOENECS, Prof. of Circular Economy at the University of Brighton, and a founding Partner at etsaW Ventures. David is also non-executive Chair of the CIWM Enterprises Board, NED of Biohm, Trustee and Director of Freegle, Government Adviser to IUK, DEFRA and MHCLG.
Vicki Hughes FCIWM
Senior Vice President Vicki Hughes is the Group Business Development Director at Enva Wood Recycling, and has been instrumental in launching many recycled wood products. She was at the forefront in the project to develop the Fire Prevention Plan guidance document, which was the first industry-specific guide of its type.
Liz Parkes FCIWM
Junior Vice President Liz Parkes leads the Environment Agency’s thinking on climate change, working closely with a range of government departments. Liz combines extensive regulatory experience with the ability to think creatively about the future and how to engage others in that journey.
Tim Walker FCIWM
Immediate Past President Having been active in environmental services for many years, Tim is now Acting Chief Executive of Northern Ireland’s waste partnership, arc21. Prior to that, he headed up waste management at Belfast City Council and also sat on or chaired a variety of boards.
CIWM Trustees
CIWM's Trustees are selected by skill set and are at the peak of CIWM's governance structure. The purpose of the Trustees is to ensure CIWM pursues its stated objectives. The Board of Trustees also includes the CIWM Presidential Team.
Wayne Hubbard MCIWM | CIWM Trustee
Term: Jun 23 - Jun 26 - Wayne is Chief Executive Officer of ReLondon, where he is responsible for helping London boroughs increase recycling. Wayne has been working with ReLondon (previously LWARB) since 2008 and has over 20 years’ experience in the waste and resource management industry.
Trevor Nicoll FCIWM | CIWM Trustee
Term: Jun 25 - Jun 28 - Trevor is the Assistant Director for Environment & Operations at St Helens Council, responsible for front-line services and climate change. Trevor is an experienced operational resources and environmental professional providing services to residents in an efficient and sustainable manner.
Richard Hulland MCIWM | CIWM Trustee
Term: Jun 25 - Jun 28 - Richard is the Chief Risk & Assurance Officer for Veolia in Northern Europe and is a board member of Veolia Northern Europe Executive Committee (ExCo), setting the vision and strategy for the business to achieve a positive safety and risk culture. He is also trustee for the Veolia Environmental Trust in the UK.
Anna Willetts FCIWM | CIWM Trustee
Term: Jun 24 - Jun 27 - Anna is a Partner at gunnercooke and has been practicing environmental law for over 10 years. Prior to becoming a lawyer, she was an environmental consultant. Anna has been a member of CIWM for over 20 years and became a Fellow seven years ago.
Adam Read FCIWM | CIWM Trustee
Term: Jun 23 - Jun 26 - Adam is an External Affairs Director at SUEZ Recycling & Recovery UK ltd, responsible for government engagement, and stakeholder engagement. Adam has been in the resources sector for over 20 years; first as a local authority recycling officer, then as an academic and lecturer.
Marcus Gover MCIWM | CIWM Trustee
Term: Jun 23 - Jun 26 - Marcus Gover has worked in the environment sector for over 25 years and has been Chief Executive Officer of WRAP since 2016. Before WRAP, Marcus was Commercial Director of a small start-up renewable energy company that made wood pellets from forestry residues and energy crops.
Duncan Simpson FCIWM | CIWM Trustee
Term: Jun 24 - Jun 27 - Duncan Simpson is an Owner Director of his own consultancy business which he set up in May 2020. Prior to that Duncan worked in the field of extended producer responsibility for 22 years with Valpak. He is a CIWM Fellow, Scottish Centre Councillor and has worked in both the public and private sector in the industry for nearly 30 years.
John Kutner FCIWM | Honorary Treasurer
Term: Jun 25 - Jun 28 - John is currently Chair of the Investment Committee for Iona Capital. John also sits on the board as Chair for a number of investee companies. John served as Finance Director and Deputy Chief Executive of Veolia Environmental Services since its establishment in the UK 1990.
